Galaxus has opened a new physical store under the Galaxus brand; the first with what the online retailer calls a "completely new store concept." The new store is located directly at Winterthur's train station at Bahnhofplatz 5. At the new location, customers can pick up orders, return items, and shop directly from a limited selection. The shop is open 365 days a year – Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on weekends and public holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The shop is equipped with a 200-square-meter warehouse and is Digitec Galaxus' smallest branch to date, the company writes. Unlike previous stores, there is no display space for cell phones, headphones, or other products in Winterthur. Instead, Galaxus is relying on a digital showroom concept in a location with high foot traffic. A nearly 27-square-meter LED wall in the shop digitally presents products from the Galaxus range. The LED wall is positioned so that it is also visible to commuters from the pedestrian zone or the bus station. Daniel Cyganek, Head of Retail, explains that the company aims to offer short routes for pickup, returns, and customer service. "With this central location, we want to further increase convenience for our customers and therefore move even closer to their everyday lives."
With the new shop, the previous Digitec store at Zürcherstrasse 42 in Winterthur has closed its doors. At the same time, the company stated that no further Galaxus stores are planned.
