Apple iPhone 17 series leak summary: appearance has changed significantly, screen sizes of all series have been confirmed, and all support 120Hz adaptive high refresh rate

As usual, Apple releases a new generation of iPhones in the fall (September) each year. Before the new phone is released, due to various factors such as supply chain leaks, a lot of news about the new phone will frequently appear online. Recently, a series of information about the iPhone 17 has been exposed. Let's take a look.

The iPhone 17 series consists of four models: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The biggest change compared to the previous generation is that the Plus model has been discontinued and replaced by the new Air model which focuses on lightness and thinness.

The standard version of iPhone 17 basically maintains the design language of the standard version of iPhone 16, adopts a vertical dual-camera solution, and has not changed much in appearance.

The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max adopt a new horizontally rectangular DECO design, with the entire module occupying most of the top of the body. The rear triple-camera arrangement remains in a triangular configuration, while the LiDAR, flash, and rear microphone are located on the right side of the module.

It is reported that the thickness of the two Pro series models has increased to over 8.6mm, and the body material may use a "titanium + glass" splicing design. Considering the larger rear module and body thickness, the feel of the iPhone 17 Pro series may be affected.

The biggest highlight of the iPhone 17 series is the new Air model. The iPhone 17 Air features a thin and light design, with the thinnest part of the body being only 5.5 mm, making it the thinnest iPhone ever. The ultra-thin body design brings another problem, which is the relatively small battery capacity, resulting in relatively weak battery life for the iPhone 17 Air.

The iPhone 17 Air uses a single rear camera, and DECO adopts a horizontal bar runway design, which is overall quite similar to the design style of the Google Pixel 9 series.

In terms of performance, the entire iPhone 17 series is equipped with the A19 chip based on TSMC's 3nm process, and the memory has been increased to 8GB/12GB, significantly improving overall performance and AI computing power.

In addition, the entire iPhone 17 series is expected to feature a 120Hz refresh rate screen, supporting adaptive adjustment from 1Hz to 120Hz, completely bidding farewell to the 60Hz era of iPhone.

Screen size

The accessory manufacturer displayed samples of tempered films for the entire iPhone 17 series and confirmed the screen sizes of the entire iPhone 17 series. All four models are different.

▪️iPhone 17 base model - 6.1 inches

▪️iPhone 17 Air - 6.6 inches

▪️iPhone 17 Pro - 6.3 inches

▪️iPhone 17 Pro Max - 6.9 inches

Actually, only the iPhone 17 Air model saw a slight screen size change, from 6.7 inches on the Plus model to 6.6 inches. The other models remained unchanged.

Overall, through the ultra-thin Air model, the radical design of the Pro series, the high refresh rate screen and AI imaging technology, the iPhone 17 series is expected to break the inherent impression of Apple's "toothpaste squeezing" in recent years. Of course, there is still some time before the September launch conference. I believe that as time approaches, there will be more news about the iPhone 17 series. Let's wait and see.
