Robotic applications are gradually expanding beyond factories into tennis. Aceii One is both a serving machine and a sophisticated coach powered by artificial intelligence, capable of analyzing matches and helping improve skills.
When not in use, Aceii One folds down to the size of a standard suitcase and weighs 25 kg. A removable top pocket can hold up to 120 balls, and the robot can be controlled via iOS and Android apps.
To track players, the robot uses two 1080p cameras with a frame rate of 60 frames per second. Aceii One can fire balls at speeds of up to 129 km/h (80 mph) every 0.5 to 15 seconds and can vary the spin and height of its serves (from 42 cm to 52 cm).
Aceii One can remain stationary or move around the court at speeds of up to 3 m/s, using ultrasonic sensors to avoid obstacles. After each session, players receive a match analysis report with suggestions for improving their technique.
The built-in battery provides up to two hours of continuous operation while in motion and up to eight hours in stationary mode.
The robot is available on Kickstarter for $1,099 and retails for $2,099.
