After securing investments from SoftBank, the US government, and Nvidia, Intel, led by Lip-Mou Tan, is accelerating its external partnerships. Bloomberg reported on the 24th that the company has entered into talks with Apple regarding potential investment and deepening cooperation, a move seen as a key strategic move for Intel.
Sources revealed that the negotiations are still in the early stages and may not result in a final agreement. If the collaboration proceeds, it will focus on semiconductor contract manufacturing. Given Apple's close collaboration with TSMC on advanced process technology, Intel is more likely to attract Apple as a customer by outsourcing advanced packaging services rather than directly participating in chip production.
This potential collaboration marks a further opening up of Intel under its IDM 2.0 strategy. The company has already strengthened its technology R&D through external investment, and Apple's participation could bring significant orders to its foundry business. However, the outcome of the negotiations remains uncertain, and the industry will closely monitor the subsequent actions of the two tech giants.
