OPPO officially announced that its new operating system, ColorOS 16, will be released at the OPPO Developer Conference on October 15th at 10:00 AM.
Previously, ColorOS Design Director Chen Xi stated that ColorOS 16 has made progress on issues such as the "immersive white bar," "global font unification," "open HDR/DolbyVision whitelisting," and "Push Notifications."
Regarding the "immersive white bar," Chen Xi revealed that in ColorOS 16, apps like Weibo, Douyin, and Xiaohongshu have achieved an immersive white bar experience. Compared to the abrupt black and white bars on the bottom of ColorOS 15, the overall look and feel is much better.
Regarding the "global font unification," OPPO has reviewed the font consistency across the entire system. ColorOS 16 will also add OPPO Serif, a sibling font to OPPO Sans. Chen Xi stated that the new system will focus on improving the mixed use of fonts in the status bar and system update screen after they take effect, the font transitions in the system update screen, and the rendering of XDR effects in the photo gallery.
Notably, ColorOS 16 also brings a whole new connected experience. For example, on Macs, phones that support the new system can directly mirror their screens to the computer, allowing up to five windows to be opened and quickly closed. Furthermore, Macs also support notification synchronization, allowing users to automatically open a mirrored reply by clicking on a message.
