Chinese startup Oassay has launched the FlexFlow water bottle, which features a unique filtration system. While existing solutions only capture bacteria and microplastics but are ineffective against viruses, the new filter easily removes even these.
It also removes heavy metals, hydrocarbons, and fluorides. The technology is based on the patented NanoFlex Carbon material, a lightweight, flexible, three-dimensional porous filter. The 776ml bottle is made of silicone and operates on a compression principle. Water passes through a 0.1-micron hollow fiber membrane filter and a NanoFlex pre-filter.
The entire filtration system is designed for a capacity of 400-600 liters and requires annual replacement. The filtration rate is 18-25 ml per second. The filter module can be removed and used with other water bottles or tubes for drinking directly from the source.
The set also includes a stovetop-safe silicone or titanium mug. The startup has launched a crowdfunding campaign and is selling the mug at a discount to its estimated retail price of $112. Initial shipments are scheduled for November 2025.
