Insiders have discovered a version of the DreamScene feature in the Windows 11 beta, first introduced 19 years ago in Windows Vista Ultimate. It allows you to turn video files into animated desktop wallpapers without the need for third-party software.
One of the first people to discover this new feature was a tech blogger nicknamed "phantomofearth." According to sources, the feature, included in the OS beta, allows you to designate MP4, MOV, AVI, WMV, M4V, or MKV files as live background images.
Microsoft first introduced a similar feature to users back in 2007, but for some reason, it was not included in subsequent versions of the OS. Previously, Windows PC users had to use third-party software to use videos as wallpapers.
It's unclear when this innovation will make it to the stable version of the OS.
