Patriot has released two new Viper solid-state drives for M.2 slots. Both products are targeted at consumer-grade systems and feature high throughput and excellent storage cell endurance.
The Patriot Viper PV563 drive utilizes a PCIe Gen 5 x4 interface and is available in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities. It supports HMB (Host Memory Buffer) and dynamic SLC caching. Linear read/write performance and cell endurance vary:
4 TB - 14,000/11,000 MB/s, 3000 TBW
2 TB: 14,000/10,000 MB/s, 1400 TBW
1 TB: 14,000/7,500, 700 TBW
The Patriot PA523 is available in versions with similar memory capacities, but with lower read and write speeds:
4 TB: 10,000/8500 MB/s, 3000 TBW
2 TB: 10,000/8200 MB/s, 1400 TBW
1 TB: 10,000/6500 MB/s, 700 TBW
Both models come with a five-year manufacturer's warranty. Availability and pricing for the new models will be announced later.
