Xiaomi Group President Lu Weibing recently announced on social media that the all-new Xiaomi 17 series will be released this month, a month ahead of the previous generation, calling it "the most significant leap forward in the history of Xiaomi's digital mobile phone series." The series includes three models: the standard Xiaomi 17, the high-end Xiaomi 17 Pro, and the top-of-the-line Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. They will be the world's first to feature the fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition mobile platform, and their performance is highly anticipated.
Speaking about competing with the iPhone, Lu Weibing expressed confidence in Xiaomi's solid progress over the past five years. He emphasized that Xiaomi has achieved a cognitive breakthrough from "parameter leadership" to "experience first," and through the deep integration of software and hardware, has made significant progress in its high-end development. More crucial is its technological accumulation—R&D investment has exceeded 100 billion yuan over the past five years, and this investment will increase to 200 billion yuan over the next five years. This investment will be concentrated on the Xiaomi 17 series.
Lei Jun subsequently stated in a post that the Xiaomi 17 series will achieve a "cross-generational upgrade in product strength," explicitly stating that it will "fully benchmark against the iPhone and face it head-on."
