Apple will reportedly hold its "Awe Dropping" fall event on September 9th at 10:00 AM Pacific Time, officially unveiling the Apple Watch Series 11. With just days until the event, several key specifications for the new smartwatch have been revealed.
Compared to its predecessor, the Series 11 is expected to retain its existing design language and maintain the same aesthetics. However, the internal hardware will feature several significant upgrades. Rumors suggest the new watch will feature a new modem from MediaTek, supporting 5G RedCap technology. This lightweight 5G solution is designed specifically for low-power devices like wearables, ensuring faster connection speeds than current LTE networks while maintaining energy efficiency and extending battery life.
In terms of the core chip, the Apple Watch Series 11 will be equipped with the next-generation S11 chip. While its processor architecture remains the same as the Series 10, resulting in limited performance improvements, the new chip features optimized manufacturing processes, resulting in a smaller size. This frees up more internal space for batteries and other sensors, indirectly improving overall battery life and functional integration.
Health functions remain the focus of this upgrade. Apple may introduce blood pressure monitoring capabilities in the Series 11, but its implementation method is different from traditional blood pressure monitors. The sensor cannot provide accurate systolic and diastolic blood pressure values. Instead, it continuously monitors to identify whether the user has a tendency towards high blood pressure and issues an alert when an abnormality is detected. This mechanism is similar to the existing atrial fibrillation (AFib) detection function, which aims to help users detect potential cardiovascular risks early.
