US semiconductor giant Broadcom announced its third-quarter financial results for fiscal year 2025 (ending August 3, 2025) on the 4th local time. The company reported revenue of $15.952 billion (approximately RMB 113.901 billion), a year-on-year increase of 22.0% and a quarter-on-quarter increase of 6.3%, setting a new record for the same period. This performance was primarily driven by continued growth in its custom AI accelerator, networking, and VMware businesses.
In the financial report, Broadcom President and CEO Hock Tan emphasized that AI has become a core driver of the company's growth. In the third quarter, Broadcom's AI revenue increased 63% year-on-year to $5.2 billion, accounting for nearly one-third of the company's total revenue. He further stated that AI semiconductor revenue is expected to increase to $6.2 billion in the fourth quarter, marking the 11th consecutive quarter of growth and reflecting continued customer investment in AI computing power.
In terms of customer development, Broadcom has achieved significant breakthroughs in custom AI XPUs (ASICs). The company has identified seven major AI companies as key target customers and has already secured orders from three of them. This quarter, Broadcom successfully converted a potential customer into an actual customer, who placed an order for Broadcom XPU-based AI computing racks valued at over $10 billion. This significant order not only highlights Broadcom's competitiveness in the AI chip market but also provides strong support for future performance growth.
