Insider: OPPO is developing its own alternative to MagSafe

One of the features of Apple smartphones is the magnetic MagSafe accessories that attach to the back panel of the smartphone. OPPO also has similar solutions, but they only work if you buy a special case. According to the insider Digital Chat Station, the gadgets of the Chinese brand will soon get rid of this drawback.

According to the informant, OPPO is already testing a “real” magnetic wireless charger with a design that does not fall under Apple's patents for MagSafe. At the same time, the source notes that the introduction of such technology may negatively affect the capacity of smartphone batteries. Probably, the magnets built into the case will “gnaw off” the free space inside the gadget, due to which the battery capacity will decrease.

There is no information yet on when and in which smartphone the “real” OPPO magnetic charger will debut. According to rumors, in the event of a successful release, a similar technology will appear in devices of the OnePlus brand, which belongs to the same parent company.
