Amazon invests an additional 20 billion rupees to upgrade India's infrastructure, and the delivery safety system has a speeding prevention mechanism for the first time

Today, Amazon announced that it will invest more than 20 billion rupees (about 1.664 billion yuan) in India in 2025, focusing on upgrading logistics infrastructure and safety systems. The funds will be used to expand operating sites, improve the processing capacity of fulfillment centers, and introduce delivery personnel anti-speeding technology for the first time, optimize driving safety through real-time warnings, and ensure the fairness of route allocation. Part of the investment will also be used for employee health and financial security projects to strengthen the stability of the local team.

This investment is a continuation of the 2023 plan-Amazon has promised to invest a total of US$26 billion in India by 2030, but did not disclose the specific allocation plan at the time. Faced with fierce competition from Walmart's Flipkart and Reliance Retail, Amazon is accelerating order delivery efficiency and consolidating its market position through technological upgrades.

It is worth noting that this logistics infrastructure investment forms a synergy with the cloud service layout. The Indian Ministry of Information Technology disclosed in March that Amazon AWS plans to invest about US$8.2 billion in the local area, and multiple investments highlight its long-term bet on the growth of India's digital economy. With the advancement of intelligent transformation of distribution centers, India's e-commerce ecosystem may usher in a new round of efficiency revolution.
