bloomberg, citing industry sources, has revealed the specs of apple's upcoming low-cost smartphone. according to the sources, while the device has improved core performance compared to its predecessor, it still lags significantly behind entry-level flagship models.
according to journalist mark gurman, the smartphone will feature a 6.1-inch oled display with a dynamic island notch, but the display refresh rate will remain at 60hz. this will be a key differentiator compared to the iphone 17, which is equipped with a 120hz panel.
the a18 processor will be replaced by the newer a19 processor, but the rest of the specs will be largely identical to the iphone 16e. the new model is expected to come with 8gb of ram, a 48mp single rear camera, and an aluminum alloy body.
the iphone 17 series is expected to be released in september 2026.
