Apple recently announced several major feature updates for the Wallet app in iOS 26, which will be officially released in September. The new version offers significant improvements in usability, security, and user experience, encompassing online purchase tracking, digital identity authentication, enhanced boarding pass functionality, and more.
First, iOS 26 will introduce an "Order Tracking" feature in the Wallet app. Users can now centrally manage all online purchases, not just those made with Apple Pay. Leveraging Apple Intelligence technology, the system automatically identifies order numbers and shipping information from the Mail app and syncs them to Wallet. Users can view shipping status by tapping the "…" button in the top-right corner of Wallet to access the "Orders" page. This feature is currently in beta and requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled device. Some orders may require manual completion.
Second, Wallet will support adding a US passport as a "digital ID." Users can store their passport information on their iPhone or Apple Watch and use it at select TSA checkpoints within the US, enabling paperless travel. This feature complies with Real ID standards and is applicable to domestic flights and age verification scenarios, including retail stores, apps, and even websites. However, Apple explicitly states that digital passports are not valid for international travel or border crossings; physical passports are still required in these situations.
In terms of the travel experience, boarding passes have been enhanced. iOS 26's Wallet boarding pass will integrate airport navigation maps and link with the Find My app, allowing users to track luggage, report lost items, and more. Furthermore, boarding passes now support Live Activities, displaying flight status in real time on the lock screen and in the app's navigation bar. Users can also share flight information with friends and family.
In terms of security, an "AutoFill" option has been added to Wallet settings, allowing users to view and store complete credit card information, including card number, expiration date, and security code, making it easier to quickly fill in payment details in apps like Safari.
Finally, in response to previous controversy, Apple has added new advertising controls. Users can disable "Offers & Promotions" in the top-right menu of the Wallet app to block promotional messages, such as F1 race recommendations, for a cleaner experience.
