Time to Nowhere. Clair Obscur Fan Completed the Game 33 Times to Uncover Its "Greatest Secret"Gamers love to build very strange theories around games. For example, a strange thought was floating around in the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 fan community - the developers probably hid some secret in the thirty-third playthrough. A desperate gamer checked this guess.
Clair Obscur fans believed that Expedition 33 in the game's title has a second meaning: supposedly, the project has an NG+ mode, which means that the developers probably decided to leave some Easter egg for persistent fans who will make 33 expeditions to the world of Light and Shadow. The only thing left was a small matter: someone had to complete the game more than three dozen times.
Such a daredevil was found: a Reddit user under the nickname WhisMui completed the task in ~308 hours. During this time, he became so proficient in the game mechanics that the playthroughs took him only seven and a half hours, although they are usually designed for three dozen. As is usually the case, reality turned out to be much less mysterious than fantasy:
Sorry, but there is nothing new there. No secrets, no new cutscenes. If you want to repeat my feat, remember these words: "It's not worth wasting your life on this."
It's a shame, because the developers really could have added some kind of scene after the credits for a couple of minutes for the most persistent. On the other hand, video game creators very rarely waste effort on content that unlocks after several playthroughs.
A little earlier, another gamer accomplished a different feat: he completed the game on the maximum difficulty without dodging or parrying.
