Huawei Mobile Cloud Service announced the official release of its map application, Petal Map, version 5.3.0.302, featuring multiple upgrades in privacy protection, feature expansion, and user experience. The new version supports precise navigation even when offline.
Official information indicates that the new version introduces the "Fuzzy Location" feature for the first time. When precise location is not enabled, the homepage map will display a dynamic aperture within a 5-kilometer radius, helping users pinpoint their approximate location while preventing the disclosure of their precise location information. This design balances location needs with privacy protection, providing enhanced user safety, especially in unfamiliar environments. The system also optimizes location permission management, allowing users to flexibly select "Allow this time" or "Allow only during use," strengthening control over their personal data.
The new version of Petal Map integrates deeply with Tongcheng Travel services, adding a new ticket booking portal to the details of popular attractions such as the Palace Museum. While browsing attraction information, users can directly jump to complete their ticket booking, seamlessly transitioning from "searching guides, booking tickets, and navigating." Notably, the new real-time notification feature can deliver commuting reminders, event information, and more.
In addition, the new version of Petal Maps introduces an "Offline Navigation" feature for unstable network conditions. Users must first download the "Offline Map Resource Pack" to confirm their location and plan routes without an internet connection. To experience this new feature, simply open Petal Maps, tap "My," and then tap "Offline Maps."
Huawei is building a closed-loop "travel + life" ecosystem by integrating third-party services and strengthening multi-device collaboration. CNMO believes that combined with the atomic service capabilities of HarmonyOS, Petal Maps will be able to host even more local life services in the future, becoming a key gateway for Huawei to build an interconnected ecosystem.
