On the afternoon of August 21st, vivo officially launched its first mixed reality (MR) headset, the vivo Vision Explorer Edition. This marks another key step for the brand into intelligent interaction, following the establishment of its Robotics Lab to develop its home robotics capabilities.
The vivo Vision Explorer Edition features a streamlined, integrated design with a three-dimensional geometric mirror on the front. Its functional modules are cleverly concealed within a "floating micro-slit" design, resulting in a clean, streamlined appearance that combines a sense of technology with a stylish aesthetic. One of its key highlights is its weight control, at just 398 grams. Officially, it's the world's lightest MR headset, significantly lighter than the industry average of approximately 600 grams. At 83 mm tall and 40 mm thick, the device is compact and portable, offering a wearing experience more akin to headphones.
In terms of hardware, the vivo Vision Explorer Edition is powered by the second-generation Snapdragon XR2+ processor and features two Micro-OLED displays, achieving a binocular 8K resolution (3840×3552×2). It supports a 94% DCI-P3 wide color gamut and a color tolerance of <2. Binocular calibration technology ensures brightness and color consistency between the left and right screens, reaching the standards of a professional cinema monitor. For users with myopia, the device supports magnetic optical lenses with a range of 100 to 1000 degrees, eliminating the need for glasses.
On the system level, vivo has customized the OriginOS Vision operating system for the device. The interface design blends seamlessly with the environment, supports visual effects like frosted glass, and creates a three-dimensional effect on icons and windows. In terms of interaction, the device integrates 1.5° high-precision eye tracking with 26 degrees of freedom micro-gesture recognition, with a vertical recognition range of 175 degrees. Combined with a dynamic eye movement correction algorithm, it delivers China's first system-level eye-hand collaborative interactive experience.
Starting August 22nd, vivo Vision will be available for offline experience.
