A digital blogger has revealed that Huawei is developing a new product called the Pura Fold, a wide, foldable phone with a screen size approaching 8 inches. For reference, Huawei's Pura X, released in March 2025, has a 6.3-inch internal screen and a unique 16:10 ratio. When unfolded, it offers a larger display area, offering significant advantages for viewing, creative writing, and other scenarios.
The blogger emphasized that Huawei's existing small-screen Pura X product line will remain, and its initial sales have been "better than expected." This confirms Huawei's dominance in the foldable screen market. According to data from authoritative research firm IDC, China's foldable screen phone market will reach 9.17 million units in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 30.8%. Huawei will maintain its leading position with a 48.6% market share, shipping approximately 4.45 million units. This figure far exceeds that of its competitors. Globally, Huawei is projected to surpass Samsung (26.7%) with a 31.2% share in the fourth quarter of 2024, taking the top spot in foldable screen shipments. The aforementioned blogger lamented, "Huawei's foldable screen market share in China is too high, giving them even more confidence in their product line."
CNMO noted that the development of the Pura Fold wasn't groundless. Huawei has long applied to register trademarks such as "Pura Fold" and "Pura Flip," with international classifications covering scientific instruments, transportation and storage, and some of these trademarks have been successfully registered. This paves the way for new products. Furthermore, industry reports indicate that Huawei plans to "explore more than just the 16:10 aspect ratio" and will launch more foldable screen products with customized ratios in the future. This suggests that the Pura Fold may adopt a new size design, with an internal screen approaching 8 inches to further enhance the viewing experience.
