The iPhone 17e is set to become the most affordable smartphone in Apple's future lineup. Although its announcement is expected only next year, the insider Digital Chat Station has revealed several significant features of the gadget: the screen diagonal, its refresh rate, the shape of the cutout, the processor model, and the camera resolution.
If the information is reliable, the iPhone 17e will receive a 6.1-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of 60 Hz. According to the insider, the gadget will inherit the iPhone 16 screen with the same low power consumption and Dynamic Island cutout. Also expected is a proprietary set of Face ID sensors with 3D face recognition and a new processor - Apple A19. The resolution of the main and front cameras is declared as 48 and 12 MP, respectively. The insider added that the ID (probably the design or positioning) of the smartphone will "change significantly", but it will still be the "most affordable" iPhone.
According to a report from research company Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP), the change from the SE line to the e-series turned out to be profitable: in the first quarter of 2025, the iPhone 16e accounted for 11% of the company's sales in the US, compared to 5% for the SE series.
The iPhone 16e was introduced in February of this year, so the release of the new model is also expected in early 2026.
