JD.com Group released its second-quarter 2025 financial results. Data showed that the company achieved net revenue of RMB 356.66 billion in the quarter, a year-on-year increase of 22.4%, exceeding market expectations of RMB 335.45 billion.
The report showed that JD.com's net profit attributable to ordinary shareholders in the second quarter was RMB 6.2 billion, and its non-GAAP net profit reached RMB 7.4 billion. Adjusted earnings per American Depositary Share (ADS) were RMB 4.97, exceeding the market estimate of RMB 3.78.
By business segment, JD Retail achieved revenue of RMB 310.1 billion in the quarter, a year-on-year increase of 20.6%. Operating profit reached RMB 13.9 billion, a significant increase from RMB 10.1 billion in the same period last year, and the operating profit margin was 4.5%, a year-on-year increase of 0.6 percentage points.
By product category, revenue in the general merchandise category increased by 16.4% year-on-year, further accelerating the growth rate. The supermarket category has achieved double-digit year-on-year growth for six consecutive quarters. Service revenue was another highlight, growing 29.1% year-over-year this quarter, primarily driven by logistics, technology services, and the expansion of new businesses.
Notably, JD.com's new businesses experienced rapid growth, particularly its food delivery business, which saw a 199% year-over-year increase in overall new business revenue. The financial report revealed that JD.com's food delivery business averaged 25 million orders per day in the second quarter. JD.com emphasized that this order growth stemmed from the healthy development of its user experience and merchant ecosystem. The company will not maliciously inflate order volumes or create market bubbles through subsidies or fraudulent means, and will instead adhere to a sustainable, high-quality growth path.
