DxOMark tested the cameras of the HUAWEI Pura 80 Ultra smartphone. The device achieved top marks in the final ratings, setting several lab records: for photo quality of the main and zoom cameras, as well as for portrait photography.
The HUAWEI Pura 80 Ultra took the top spot for overall photo and video quality. According to DxOMark, the smartphone's camera "delivers excellent image quality in all use cases." For example, it accurately selects exposure even at dusk, offers realistic color reproduction, fast focus, and boasts a wide dynamic range.
The details in the shots also raised no complaints in most shooting conditions, with portrait mode accurately highlighting the foreground and blurring the background. The ultra-wide-angle and telephoto lenses also showed good quality, with good detail, minimal noise, and good color reproduction.
However, there are still some drawbacks: the smartphone sometimes makes mistakes in exposure selection, and when taking photos in low light, textures can appear unnatural when zoomed in. Additionally, artifacts—ghosting or noticeable shadow transitions—occasionally appear. Video quality also raised no complaints, aside from periodic failures in white balance selection.
