Lexar has announced the Ares Pro series of consumer SSDs, featuring fast write and read speeds. The new 1, 2, and 4 TB DRAM buffer offerings are targeted at gamers, but are also suitable for productivity use cases due to the units' generous memory resources.
All three PCI-Express 5.0 x4 drives support sequential read speeds of up to 14 GB/s, but write speeds vary: up to 4 GB/s for the 11 TB version, up to 2 GB/s for the 10 TB model, and up to 1 GB/s for the lower 7.5 TB version.
Random access performance also varies: the older version boasts up to 2/1.5 million random read/write IOPS, the 2 TB version boasts up to 2/1.4 million, and the TB version boasts up to 1.6/1 million IOPS. Published battery resources are 3,000, 1,500, and 750 TBW, respectively.
The Lexar Ares Pro drives don't have heat sinks, but according to the manufacturer, they are equipped with a graphene-based thermal sticker. It's also understood that the new products will be sold with a five-year warranty, but their price and retail launch date have not yet been announced.
