The second-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition mobile platform will officially launch in September of this year, debuting globally with the Xiaomi Mi 16 series. Recently, the Mi 16 Ultra, the most powerful model in the Mi 16 series, has been revealed.
Industry insiders revealed that the Mi 16 Ultra's front-facing camera system will be upgraded, featuring a 50-megapixel high-quality lens with anti-distortion technology and a front-facing Smart Island camera.
For reference, the Xiaomi Mi 15 Ultra features a 32-megapixel front camera and a Leica quad-camera setup on the back, including a 1-inch Leica main camera (50MP, Sony's LYT-900 image sensor, large sensor, f/1.63 aperture, 23mm equivalent focal length), a Leica super telephoto lens (200MP, Samsung HP9, f/2.6 aperture, 100mm equivalent focal length), a Leica floating telephoto lens (50MP, Sony's IMX858, f/1.8 aperture, 70mm equivalent focal length), and a Leica ultra-wide-angle lens (50MP, f/2.2 large aperture, 14mm equivalent focal length).
It's worth noting that the Xiaomi Mi 16 Ultra will feature a secondary display on the back, a similar design previously featured on the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra.
At its release, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra boasted the industry's largest main camera sensor, and Xiaomi officially promoted the Mi 11 Ultra as the "Light of Android." However, the Snapdragon 888 mobile platform was ridiculed by netizens as the "generation of fire dragon", and the Xiaomi 11 Ultra also had a certain "burning Wi-Fi" phenomenon. To this day, some Mi fans still think that the Xiaomi 11 Ultra is a very regrettable top flagship. Whether this generation of Xiaomi 16 Ultra can become a true "Android light" remains to be seen.
