In the horror Silent Hill f, Konami decided to move the action to Japan for the first time in the history of the series. The authors took the choice of location seriously, but it had to be changed because of the famous Mount Fuji.
The writer of Silent Hill f, Ryukishi07, told how the developers chose the location for the game. He admitted that initially the authors wanted to make the real city of Shizuoka, the name of which literally translates as "silent hill" or silent hill in English, the main location. The Konami team even went to the site to shoot references, but it was then that it became clear that Shizuoka was not suitable for a horror. All because of the legendary Mount Fuji, which rises near the city and draws all the attention to itself - such an object, the authors believe, would interfere with creating the tense foggy atmosphere of Silent Hill.
When creating Silent Hill f, we decided to rely on real locations. The idea of Shizuoka came up right away, and we even visited the city, but quickly realized that the view of Fuji was too overwhelming. This mountain towers over everything around, and its presence would not allow for the foggy atmosphere that is traditional for Silent Hill.
After that, it was decided to move the action of Silent Hill f to a fictional city, which is based on Kanayama in Gifu Prefecture. Fans have already visited the city and shown real-life analogues of the places from the game's trailers.
Silent Hill f will be released on September 25 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.
